Lactose-Free Coffee Specials

Fall is here!
The days are getting shorter, and the weather is perfect for curling up under a blanket… with a steaming cup of coffee, of course. Whether you’re a fan of a latte, cappuccino, or matcha: you can easily make them at home – even if you’re lactose intolerant.

In this article, we’re sharing three delicious coffee drink recipes. Plus, we’ll show you how to make regular milk lactose-free in no time, so you can enjoy your favorite creations without worry.

Let’s get started!

How to Make Milk Lactose-Free

Before we dive into the coffee specials: here’s how to turn regular cow’s milk into lactose-free milk. All you need are a few drops of our Intoleran Lactase Drops.

  • Add 5 drops per quart (about 1 liter) of milk.
  • Shake the carton well or stir into a measured amount of milk.
  • Place in the fridge for 24 hours. Done! During this time, the lactase has broken down all the lactose.

No patience to wait? Add 10 drops per cup (250 ml) of milk and it’s ready to use immediately.

👉 You can also make lactose-free whipping cream! Use 5 drops per cup (250 ml) of cream (wait 24 hours), or 20 drops per cup if you want to use it right away.

1. Lactose-Free Pumpkin Spice Latte

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 ml) milk (lactose-free or plant-based)
  • 1–2 tbsp pumpkin purée (canned* or homemade)
  • 1 tsp pumpkin spice**
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tbsp brown sugar or honey (to taste)
  • 1 cup strong coffee or 1 shot espresso

*Tip: You can also find canned pumpkin purée in the baby food aisle.
**Make your own pumpkin spice mix: 2 tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp ginger, ½ tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp cloves, ¼ tsp allspice. Mix and store in a jar.

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk with the pumpkin purée, sugar, pumpkin spice, and vanilla in a small saucepan. Stir constantly but don’t let it boil.
  2. Froth the milk with a whisk or milk frother for a creamy texture.
  3. Pour the hot milk into a large mug and add the coffee.
  4. Stir gently and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or pumpkin spice.

2. Lactose-Free Caramel Macchiato

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 ml) milk (lactose-free or plant-based)
  • 1 cup strong coffee or 1 shot espresso
  • 1–2 tbsp caramel sauce (to taste)
  • Optional: lactose-free whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Heat and froth the milk (with a milk frother or whisk in a saucepan).
  2. Pour the warm milk into a large mug.
  3. Add the coffee or espresso.
  4. Stir in 1 tbsp caramel sauce, taste, and add more if desired.
  5. Top with whipped cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.

3. Lactose-Free Chai Latte

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250 ml) milk (lactose-free or plant-based)
  • 1 tsp chai spice mix*
  • 1 tsp honey or sugar (to taste)
  • 1 shot espresso or strong brewed tea (optional, for extra kick)

*Make your own quick chai mix: 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ginger, ½ tsp cardamom, ½ tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp cloves. Mix and store in a jar.

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk in a saucepan and stir in the chai spice mix. Let steep briefly (don’t boil).
  2. Froth the milk with a whisk or frother.
  3. Pour into a mug, sweeten with honey or sugar, and stir.
  4. Optional: add a shot of espresso or strong tea for a “dirty chai.”
