Fructose (fruit sugar)
Fructose, also known as “fruit sugar,” is one of the FODMAPs, a group of fermentable carbohydrates. Fructose is found in fruits, vegetables, honey and processed products such as cherries, melon, apple, pear, dried fruit, asparagus, artichokes, fruit juices, apple syrup, jam, sauces, soft drinks, breakfast cereals and sweets. On food labels, fructose may be listed under various names, including fructose-glucose syrup, corn syrup, fruit juice concentrate, honey, agave syrup and crystalline fructose. It is important to watch out for these names when reading food labels.

Digestion of fructose in the body
Fructose is absorbed into the bloodstream in the small intestine with the help of a transport protein. The digestive enzyme Xylose Isomerase converts free fructose into glucose, ensuring a 1:1 ratio of glucose and fructose, allowing both to be properly absorbed in the small intestine.

Frequently asked questions

about Fructase

We recommend starting with 3 capsules before meals. This way, enough of the digestive enzyme enters the body. Should this amount be sufficient, you could try a lower dosage. How many capsules are sufficient may vary from person to person

We recommend taking the capsules immediately before, or with the first bite of a meal. This way, the digestive enzyme enters the intestines together with the food.

You can safely use our fructase capsules several times a day. However, we recommend you stick to the maximum number of capsules per day. For fructase, this is a maximum of 15 capsules per day.
